The situation in Lebanon
Following the outbreak of war in Lebanon on 2 March 2026, escalating shelling and attacks have rapidly pushed the country into a deepening humanitarian crisis. According to the Ministry of Public Health, 82 people have been killed and 536 injured from Israeli attacks, and urgent aid is needed.
Displacement orders issued on 6 March forced residents to flee a vast area stretching from the Litani River to the southern border, affecting at least 500,000 people. Nearly 96,000 people are now sheltering in 441 collective shelters, while 64,000 others remain displaced from the previous escalation in 2024, further straining already fragile communities and exacerbating humanitarian needs.
