counselling session at UNICEF supported safe learning space in Kassala, Sudan

How does supervision support social service workers?

This is an open event, at which all are invited and welcome to speak or ask questions. Rather than a traditional webinar with presentations followed by questions, this is an opportunity for anyone with experience of supervision, in particular of trying to implement a supervision policy in a low resource setting, to share their learning. Please register here to access the zoom link, and if you wish to share your experience or learning during the event, please let us know your name and brief details of what you would like to  share via this additional short form: https://forms.gle/tQ1htzKNhC7eWgHz5

In particular, we would like to hear, from countries with a supervision policy or framework, how fully has it been implemented? What have been the main achievements and challenges faced in rolling out supervision? How have these challenges been overcome? In particular we are interested to hear examples of:
•    Specialist orientation and training for supervisors
•    Funding for supervision – for transport and venues, or payments for supervisors
•    The most cost effective types and frequency of supervision in low resource contexts
•    The types of supervision that social service workers most value and benefit from
•    Use of supervision contracts or agreements signed between supervisor and supervisee
•    Supervision to enable reflective practice, discussing complex cases and dilemmas
•    Supervision in protecting workforce wellbeing, and preventing burnout and dropout
•    Supervision in child protection, including documenting decisions on high risk cases
