Endorse FCDO's Global Charter on Care Reform

Filipe Meirelles @Family for Every Child • 8 September 2025

Dear Kinship Care Community,

The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has launched a Global Charter on Care Reform. Family for Every Child was involved in reviewing the charter and was able to include kinship care as the first option for children deprived of parental care.

The FCDO currently seeks civil society endorsement for the charter and encourages national governments to sign and act on its commitments. Endorsing the charter would mean:

  • Your organisation is in support of the charter, which aims to ensure every child has the right to a safe and loving family environment and progressively end the institutionalisation of children.
  • You are content for your organisation to be added to the list of CSOs in support of the Charter and referred to publicly.

The Charter is available here with translation into French, Spanish and Arabic.

How to endorse the charter?

Please request a senior member of your organisation, such as your Executive Director, Chairperson, or President, to send a short letter or email to FCDO’s Children's Care Reform team at [email protected] stating your organisation's support for the Charter and confirming that you are content for your organisation to be named publicly.

Please feel free to share this announcement with other organisations to endorse the Charter and amplify information about it on your social networks.
