We're excited to announce that the Family-First Framework Learning Journey for Europe & Central Asia is beginning Wednesday September 16, 2026!
Join us for Module 1 and become part of a 12-session Learning Journey delivered over six months, from September 16, 2026 to March 10, 2027. Participants may join as Active Participants or Observers.
The Learning Journey is a free, interactive pathway designed to explore how the Family-First Framework can help strengthen national child protection and care systems so every child can thrive in a family. Grounded in international child rights law, the journey uses the Framework as a practical toolkit for exploring national systems through a shared systems approach.
Co-facilitated by global experts and regional leaders, each session combines practical tools, peer exchange, discussion, and application to participants' own country contexts.
This regional Learning Journey for Europe & Central Asia is intended to create greater opportunities for contextual learning, peer exchange, and collaboration among people working across the region to strengthen systems for children and families.
The Family-First Framework is a practical visual toolset that helps leaders strengthen child protection and care systems so children can remain in, return to, or find their way to safe and loving families.

This Learning Journey is designed for civil society leaders, practitioners, and other non-government actors engaged in—or seeking to engage in—child protection and care reform in their countries.

Learning Journey Details
- Dates: September 16, 2026 – March 10, 2027
- Schedule: Two online sessions per month
- Format: 90-minute interactive sessions via Zoom
- Cost: No registration fee
- Certificate: Available upon completion of at least 8 of the 12 sessions

Participation Options
Participation is free and open, with two ways to join:
Active Participants
Designed for individuals and organizations already engaged—or actively seeking to engage—in child protection and care reform. Active Participants are encouraged to attend and actively engage throughout the Learning Journey, apply the Framework tools in their own contexts, and exchange experiences with others across the region.
Observers
For those who may not yet be directly involved in this work but are eager to learn, connect with others, and explore how they can contribute to strengthening systems for children and families.
Over the 12 sessions, participants will journey from understanding the foundations of a national child and family system through prevention, protection, family-based care and permanency, and ultimately explore how to assess system gaps and identify practical next steps for reform.
We look forward to learning together across Europe & Central Asia as we strengthen systems, strengthen families, and work toward better outcomes for children.
